windshield mounted lights question??

my lights just showed up and i went ahead and mounted them to the hinge brackets, that i already had installed, just wondering where you guys are running your wires through? before i start drilling, i watched a video on you tube and they ran them behind hood, i didnt like that looks as if they would get pinched every time you open and close the hood, how do most people run them? believe it or not i havnt seen one jeep in my city with lights mounted there, thanks

I also have the same question. I am getting a new front bumper and I am going to relocate my lights. But where do the wires go??? Does any one make a wireless one?....ha

A lot of people drill into the lower windshield frame (the part that is NOT holding the windshield) and run a rubber grommet there with cable sheathing or similar.

You can also do something like this:

If your going to drill, I would go through the bottom hinge. This will make feeding the wire into the cabin very easy. Be sure to use a good gromit and even a touch of silicon to prevent leaking.

Kinda like this but through the hinge itself would look way better. Make sure and keep both sides uniform length and holes drilled in the same position.

I laid my windshield frame down and ran the wires down the channel to where I wanted the switch in the dash. Did this on my dad's CJ also. Both lights on both jeeps are working great.

Guess I have not looked too close. Looks fairly simple. Thanks!

I saw on another board (or it may have been this one, it was a couple years ago) how to do mine. Take the plate off under your windshield wipers. Pop the wipers off, and take out the screws. Pop the hood and there are a few more hidden under the gasket where it meets the hood. I laid my wires in there stuck them through the water drain in the middle. You'll see what I'm talking about when you take the cowl off and into the engine compartment, through the big rubber grommet at the fire wall near the master cylinder to go inside.

That's where the wires enter into the cowl.

Bad pic but thats the grommet I ran the wires into the cab.

Nice clean look IMHO.

(edit: just saw this was in the YJ forum sorry. Don't know if you can do that)
