Windshield replacement

My windshield frame is rusted pretty darn good. Going to get a replacement. Looking at Quadratec, there are a bunch of gaskets moldings blah blah blah for the windshield... Will I have to replace all the extras or will some of them be reusable?

I've never had to mess with mine, so hopefully someone else chimes in. But I would think you should replace all or as much of that stuff as possible. All the seals and gaskets are as old as your jeep.

True, but could have been replaced if windshield was replaced. My dad has gone through 3 or 4 on his 11 JK in a year. Mine too is cracked. I wonder if insurance would replace windshield into new frame...

If you are into DIY the kit from Qtec or Morris is the way to go.

Replace all the seals frame and glass. The only drawback is sending the frame out for paint after you test fit it to your Jeep to make sure it will fit first.

Paoint for mine was $100 and looks awesome.

Putting it together took some patience.

If you do it your self go to Home Depot and get the Orange heavy duty caulk gun for the sealant. I only used one of the two tubes supplied and that was more than enough.

If your frame is that bad, the windshield seal is probably going to be worn out, if not damaged, especially due to the rust. I'd definitely replace that while you're changing out the glass. The cowl seal below the frame could also be replaced... do an inspection. If it's dry and cracked, don't count on it holding up once you've replaced the frame.

Replace all the seals while you're there. I got all my parts from 4wheel parts. About the same money as Q-tec. Got mine apart and found the plate behind the dash was rusted as much as the frame, so got another sent, and had a body shop finish it, and it's great now, and no more water coming through the dash.

Did mine this spring. Have a pro do the windshield. They need to heat up the seal for it to fit right.
