Windshield wiper bushings.

long story short, a light got behind the dash jamming the linkage and it popped the linkage rod that connects the motor to the the first wiper. I cannot get the dang bushing back on the balls on the motor or the other linkage. and they are pretty damaged. So where can i find those bushings? The dealer does not carry them and every parts store i talk to is lost, so if i cant find the bushings then what other options to i have to make my wipers work? i need them bad!

I've used heim joints before. but what might be better is going to junk yard and see if cherokee wipers use the same bushing.

ok well i was able to get the bushing back on and now a new problem. windshield wipers only go about half way. i can help them across but every time they go to open they stop half way. when diconnected from the motor they move smoothly, nothing is binding up. so i bought a new motor thinking this one was going out. well the one i got from advanceauto parts doesnt even work. so wtf now? getting very frustrated. im kind of stumped, i ran the old motor without it being hooked up and it goes thru all the speeds just fine and i cant make it stop, it just powers right thru, so somthing is going on and i have no on earthly idea

i know those things have to be timed.....now don't ask me how, but i do know they have to be....something about being sure the motor shaft is in a certain position before attaching the linkage, and the wipers being in a certain position at the same time...i'm sure somebody will chime in with the correct procedure

ok hear ya go.
almost any auto store will cary the "windshield wiper bushings" but most employes don't know this. look for them where the plastic clips for interior parts are.
the best way to set the motor is to take the linkage to the wiper off and let the motor rotate thru to the off position. the wipers should be all the way down. then reconnect.
to install the bushings, insert them into the linkage before you try to insert it onto the ball. use a deep well socket around the bushing to hammer it onto the ball. ( if you bend the linkage on this part its ok just be careful not to break it bending it back)
before i connected the motor/linkage i made sure everything lined up ok and installed the motor. using a strong wire or small rope behind the linkage pull it onto the arm on the motor. i had done this a couple times before i figured it out. good luck if you have any questions let me know.

Awesome man i do appreciate it, i got those bushings and none of them worked haha, so i just reused to old ones, cleaned them up as good as possible and lubed the heck out of them with anti seize lube. did the job! they work great now, so after all that and one dumb mistake by me, dropping a tool on the windshield while it was laying down, and sending a crack all the way across the window, everything is functional! So thank yall for all yalls help i doo appreciate it!
