Windshield wiper range of motion

I have a '93 YJ. My wipers work fine, but have only a limited range of motion. In the off position, they stop in almost a straight up position. The only sweep approx 10-12" either way.

Is this a problem that is best resolved by replacing the motor or is it a linkage problem?

Thanks in advance

my wipers were the same way when i got my jeep i took the arms off and repositioned them so they are more in normal position when off. they seem to work fine this way. I think with mine po wanted to have the wipers wipe an area closer to the side edge of the window and adjusted them that way. I prefer it the way i set them. I dont know how to tell if the motor is bad or linkage messed up.

Stop almost straight up? That is odd, don't sound like the motor is bad.

There are 2 reasons for this.
1. your wiper is connected above the fold down crack. That way you don't have to remove your wiper arms, to drop your windshield.
2. the wiper arms are straight, instead of being bent at a 45* angle, like the TJ

I did the same thing that scooter did, and that got them out of view, a little more.
It's normal, on a YJ.

mine stop a little shy of 45 degrees. you will get used to it after a while

Mine work fine when you use the manual wipe mode, but if you set the delay they end up doing the full sweep then returning to rest about 3 inches further than they should. Its very annoying, I'm thinking it could be the delay module?
