Unhappy YJ Brake pedal sticking

The brake pedal in my 93 YJ doesn't return all the way back after breaking. After breaking and releasing the pedal the rear lights stay on the I have to use my foot to pop the brake pedal all the back and deactivate the lights.
In total I'm ballparking the distance at about a half inch or less.

Any ideas on fixes? Thanks

I had an old chevelle that did the same thing. It wasn't getting hung on anything, just didn't return all of the way back up to the button that makes the light go off. On it you could adjust the button out to make it turn the lights off sooner. Hope this helps. I'm not sure if wrangler is the same or not 

Isn't there a return spring? If not check for binding and lube the friction points.

Yea check the switch I don't think there's a problem with your pedal not coming up all the way it sounds like the switch either needs adjusting if its the kind you adjust or needs replacing.

Did you resolve this? I have the same problem on a 2001 wrangler. The entire brake system is new and bled. The pedal sometimes comes up higher than other times so adjusting the plunger switch works initially but then stops working because the pedal occasionally does not come fully up again. Driving me crazy!!!
