YJ distributor question.

Would a distributor from a 4.0 work for a 2.5?

i'd be shocked, i can't believe they'd use the same distributor, w/ the same cam gear for a 4 and 6 cylinder. i mean how is it gonna spin the same to fire 4 or 6 cylinders? i guess i can't speak for 100% sure, but i'd have lost money.
