i finally got into the drivers half door to fix the lock that didnt work on my 93, and rod from lock cylinder to latch is missing as well as clips i searched very hard and it wasnt in the door, dealer sais they dont make them anymore, good luck, does anyone know a place that would carry this part#55026853 ?? im thinkink im gonna have to take apart pass side take that rod off and fabricate something out of a coat hanger or something, they are kind of a bitch to get to for me, and i have drivers panel off, any suggestions?? thanks
i found the parts a site called factory chryslerautoparts.com the rod was 4.50 the lil plstic clips were 15.95 and shipping was 14.oo almost as bad as the jeep dealer they wanted 89.00 for ashtray lid on my cherokee lol, and 120.oo for latch to console, so actually a lil better well worth what i paid to fix my lock on my door
well i just got an email saying they were sending me a full refund -parts are discontinued, that sucks, does anyone know of a site where i might find door lock parts, the rod and clip from key cylinder to latch on drivers door??
i could not find them for my door, mine are the hard half doors, so i made it, it was much easier than i thought ,used a wire twist used for chain link fencing - they are like 3bucks bag of 50, and did kind of a s bend "like a carb linkage on a lawnmower, did the s bend on both ends after my length was correct and it works like butter, no need for those plastic clips that break, the guy paul at jeep world had them for the full door
same problem...i went to local junk yard, pulled a rod from a 95 cavalier,it was too long, i left the bend on one end,cut to length(leaving 3/4" extra to make the bend on oposite end) worked like a charm...and it was free!
I just purchased a '92 YJ and have the exact same issue. The lock linkage between the locking cylinder and the door latch assembly was completely missing. Most of the sites the guys are talking about had one or a few of the other parts that were either broke (clips) or missing (which does help). It is like putting a parts puzzle together trying to find who has them. Thanks for the fencing idea. Is your fix still holding out for you (I noticed you posted back in March)?
