YJ Door Locks?

I have been looking for a way to lock my doors on my 89' YJ. I have half doors with a soft top so it may seem a bit pointless, but atleast it might keep the honest guy honest. All I have found was interior handles with locks, but how would I get back in. I dont care if it locks from the inside just want it to lock on the outside atleast.

Hmm... My half doors have keyholes on the outside. To unlock, I insert my key and rotate.

Same way everyone else would....slice the softop and open her up. Locking doors are really pointless when a knife is all it takes to get around them. There are fewer and fewer "honest men" out there these days. I think you would be better off spending your $$ on a burglar alarm that at lest might scare them off when they opened a door. My jaded two cents.

it's not the honest guys you have to worry about

I know a guy that used to lay a leather gun holster in plain view on his quad when he left it for a bit. The quad never got stolen.

mine have never locked either.
She came with a high end alarm with radar -
I can't get a remote for it but keep the alarm for the radar...
If anyone even peeks inside (while the top is off) it screams

First I wouold invest in door locks that can keep people from steeling your doors right off the hinges. Then I would do as I have always done with my yj in the summer ( I drop the top and doors all summer.) Get a thick chain and a big masterlock padlock, keep it right by your seat on the drivers side. When you get out, just wrap it around the clutch and brake pedal tighly. It's pretty hard to remain inconspicuus with a large pair of bolt cutters trying to break something like that; too much attention for the average thief!

Keeping people from steeling the doors is easy. Just disconnect the linkage inside the door to the lock button. Then just use the key to lock and unlock. Problem solved.

I can't take the credit for the idea. I got the idea from another forum member.
