YJ door problems?

Does anybody else's door give them trouble when unlocking? I took off the inside cover and noticed its a weak little piece thats bending. Basically I unlock my door and that little piece is causing it too not fully unlock. Good ol Chrysler I guess

I just don't lock it .

That doesn't really solve your problem but I have heard that the door handle/locks aren't the best thing on the Jeep and cause problems.

My full doors have that issue once in a while there's probly dirt and debris stuck in the piece that slides on the lower half sometimes it won't unlock. I spray it and work my lock a few times then I'm good to go for a while

Yeah sometimes I'll spray them with wd40 and it'll work for literally 5 minutes and then go back to normal. It's just getting annoying having to climb in the passenger side because my door is so stubborn

Yeah mine doesn't unlock all the way sometimes. Takes significant effort even from the inside. But when I slam my door shut or hit it while unlocking it I can get it.
But I just leave it unlocked now. I think it looks a little silly beating damb door with the keys hangingout

My doorlocks were fixed with WD40, but my right hand door handle is broken. I need to find/buy another one. E-bay has them for $17-18, but I had trouble with my Paypal account, so if no one has an idea I will try again, Yes, the part inside is broken off.; The inside handle works.

Yeah, the thing is my lock turns fine... and my handles work fine... it's just the little metal piece inside the door that allows the handle to be fully unlocked, bends, thus the handle functions the same as it being fully locked. Pain in the ass! I look like a damn fool wrestling my driver side door, then throwing a fit and having to climb in my passenger side. Lol!

Mine do the same thing on both sides. I gave up with the locks when I had to start climbing through the tailgate. Half the year there's not top anyway.

Lol. Hard lesson to learn. Cost me 2 batteries and a new spare tire.

I took both cylinders out and replaced the end pieces. The old ones were all bent up. I can now lock and unlock the door with the key but, they are still flimsy. I think the cylinders are worn out. It wasn't a great design to begin with. As soon as I get the money for a good center console I wont even worry about locking them and, as stated, the top will be off most of the time anyway. I just need a place to put my radio faceplate and Sirius radio when I go into a store or something. As most said, I just don't leave anything of value in it.
