YJ Frame Rust Removal

Have a 90 YJ (my son's) with the Bad Rear Shackle and Shock Mount rust.
I have the AutoRust replace kits to repair them.

Silly question it, I can only grind away so much of the rust.
Is there a chemical like Evapo-Rust (A soaking solution) that is Spray On?
Permatex makes a spray, but it read like a surface rust remove. But they have gel as well.

Any thoughts?

No clue, but I would contact Magnetman on the other jeep forum. If you go to the monstaliner website (his signature) look up chassis saver there is a lot of info.

monstaliner - JeepForum.com - Threads Tagged with monstaliner

Magnetman is a jeeper and a great dude from what I can tell. He would be able to point you in the right direction. Rust is what his company cut their teeth on.

Tell him Squirrel442 referred you. He doesn't know me from Adam, but like many other jeepers, I purchased his monstaliner based on his support to us jeep guys.

It would be good for him to know that his good reputation is paying off.

Best of luck

You should sand blast the frame, that's what I'm doing to my 93 YJ

Short of sandblasting, there is another solution. There is a paint that is supposed to stop rust and prevent more from forming but will not remove it so your frame will look like %$&...

Look up Eastwood automotive products on Google. They have a lot of rust solutions. They are a restoration products supplier. I sandblasted my frame, used autorusts body mounts and then sprayed it with a rust inhibitor then Eastwoods Chassis Black satin primer and top coat. I also used their internal frame coating. I took a grinder to all the factory weld splatter B4 spraying. The frame looks better than when it came off the assembly line.
