YJ front differential leak

I am a new Jeep owner, I have a 1995 yj wrangler that has a passenger side leak of differential oil. I purchased a wheel seal and asked my local mechanic to replace, but was told he needed a special puller to do the job. Was he correct? Is the problem the wheel seal or is there another seal inside the front differential that maybe the problem? Does this have to be done by a Jeep dealer? The jeep has only got 69000 miles and I would like to keep it for a few years.
Thanx Dave
