Are there any driveshafts out there that could be a direct swap into the front of a yj? Mine is worn badly at the slip yoke and a new shaft is about 300$ where i live which is not worth it on an old rig. To send it in to a driveline shop its still 200$. Will a tj shaft be a direct swap. Even with a bit of mods to make it fit i be cool with that. Need something to make the jeep crawl over 85km/h at least haha. Vibrations are unbearable.
yeah driveshafts are nuts anymore. Might check around High Angle Driveline and see I think they had a package deal for the driveshaft and the S.Y.E. or you might wanna check boneyards if nothing else find a military one and become the first guy to do a M998 geared hub and differential conversion on a Wrangler.
XJ shaft will have to be cut. Those bastards are long. You might as well just get a new one. Some driveshaft shop will cut them cheap, but around me they are expensive. Some out west in the USA do a good job cheap. Not where I am. Plus new u joints will add $70 (there are three).
Look at Adams Driveshaft and Curtis Tatton driveshaft. I can't really think of an alternative.
Quadratec has a Tom Woods front driveshaft for $210.00 and free shipping.
I don't think you'll find a better deal than that.
$210.00 for new vs. $50.00 to $100.00 for used with unknown slip yoke and U-joints.
Sometimes going cheap ends up costing more.
Your Jeep, Your money....You decide.
Good Luck, L.M.
