Yj Fuel Cell Install With Lots Of Pics!! (Done)

So i got me a RCI 2161a fuel cell and put it in this weekend it wasnt to bad just had to do alot of back and forth to the parts store and lowes to get all the parts..

So i took the old tank off
dry fitted the new one

and i was going to use the stock assembly and thought i could make this peace work. The idea was to thread it or put a coupling around it to get the inch of gas off the bottom... that was a stupid idea that failed lol

so i said screw it and the rci tanks have a awful aluminum fuel pickup and i was not sticking with that so i fig i would make my own and just order a fuel pump.. after about 10 trips to lowes and autozone gettin parts i finally got it together

also got my fuel pump and got it mounted is a part # 8228 i believe ($126) got it over nighted and then mounted it
next had to build a frame for my tank to secure it

If you do alot of rock crawling it just gets the tank out of the way so ya dont smash it and it also give you extra room if you want to stretch the wheel base and besides that it just looks better without that big ugly tank in the back lol

Thats pretty cool. Do you hook up the meter for the dash gauge? Or do you just have to keep track of your fuel level now? Also how much does that hold?

Its an awsome mod, just don't get rearended. An exploding gas tank inside your cab is something you don't want.

I would love to do this mod accept replace the stock tank and move it up and in a little bit.

Dude its got yard gate door hinges on it. What do you think.....? Personlly I would have gotten a more diesel hinges. But I also don't have the balls to do this mod. At least not yet. This is hillbillys jeeper now. I love when people make there own s*&t work with there own resources and materials. Store bought crap is for the birds and anyone can do that with half a brian.

i am getting ready to do a fuel cell in my tj
my question is with my tank in and the rear seat in it seems about impossible to get the rear seat out
the tank is in the way of the brackets on the seat when it pivots
