My 1991 yj headlights keep shutting of after about 10 minutes of use, with the parking marker lights staying on, then after 10-20 seconds later, they will come back on, and this keeps happening on and off for the rest of the drive. I have changed the switch on the dash, and don't know where to go after that.. they are new headlights, and wiring, with a new grd to them...I am stumped... any answers of things to try would be greatly appreciated... thanks guys ...Dan

If they were going out and staying out, then I would say dimmer switch. But if they are coming back on, then I would say that its the relay that is built into the head light switch in the dash.

You might have gotten a faulty switch, or a remanufactured one.

If the head lights are anything brighter than the standard stock head light 55W low beam and 65W high beam, then the head lights are the culprit. The stock switch cant handle anything that uses a higher wattage.

I put H4 bulbs in mine, and had to upgrade the head light harness to the head light relay kit in order to even think about the head lights. Turning them on would cause the relay to kick out instantly. The bulbs that I installed are 80W low beam and 130W high beam.

I had that same problem with the circuit breaker when I went with higher wattage H4 bulbs. Went back to 55/65W but got Cibie E-code lenses and it was much better than stock.

Really. Grow up. Considering today's technology in lighting there is far more blinding applications then my yj. Seriously. My issue is my headlights being so far away from ground. Dick. oh and fyi those e codes will not pass inspection so i am keeping my sealed beams handy to swap in at inspection time. the stock wiring all stays intact so it is just a matter of switching out if the inspection station cares to complain about it.

oh another fyi those hella housings are 1 per order so you need 2. and they do not come with bulbs i bought these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G4L23PY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 they are fantastic

My XJ has had ecodes and a aftermarket h4 harness with 80/90watt bulbs for years inspectors just look to see if the lights work that's it. My new projectors will arrive for my YJ tomorrow ( actual bi xenon projectors mirimoto mini's with 6k temp hid's ). Once I install them I'll post my cutoff light patterns look like to show why shitty eBay "projectors" are junk compared to a true projector

I have a total of 365 into my lighting. Between hid off-road lights and my his retrofits.

In Utah during the summer we tend to wheel at night to avoid the heat and. Most of our trails you have to drive on 1 lane wide shelf roads with 1-500' cliffs on 1 side with a shear face on the other. With 2 way traffic bright lights let others know your coming around the switchbacks and blind turns. I'm not sure what the mountains are like in MI but I am sure they are just hills compared to the southwest.

But hid's in a a h4 housing like the eBay shit scatter light and blind people where a real projectors put light where it's supposed to go.
