YJ mileage

Just wondering how YJ owners are doing with mileage, like who has the highest or whatever. My 94 yj 4.0 only has 106,000 on it so it's just getting broke in. No problems except a vacuum leak I need to get after. How's evreryone elses YJs holding up?

The TJ guys are making us look bad, so get to posting.

Hello all,

Speedy here -- just came over from swbjeep.off-road.com.

I've got a '95 Wrangler Sahara Edition. Bought it bone stock in 2000 with 143000kms.

Now its got 215000kms, and since then I've added

MSD ignition (now removed)
Accel Coil (now removed)
8.5mm wires
triple core all steel radiator
K&N Air Filter
Turbo City Intake
Turbo City oversized throttle body
3/8" throttle body spacer
Random Technologies hi-flow cat (now hollow)
Turbo City cat-back exhaust
2.5" OME Lift Kit (now flat front springs after fender-bener
Xenon 6.5" Fender flares
15x10 Pro-Comp Mud Terrains
Pioneer CD Player
12 speakers, 2amps, roughly 1300 watts
Kentrol stainless steel hinges, hood treatment, mirrors, etc.
Stainless Steel grill cover

I have purchased but not installed:
Warn 8257 winch (not the -50) off of ebay
Stainless Steel light bar with 5 KC Daylighters (150watt)

In the near future I plan to:
replace the cat (emissions test)
replace the rad (again)
maybee add a Banks header and downpipe

At some point I need to:
re-gear to 4.11/4.27 and add lockers (Ox?)
Bumpers, front with winch mount, rear with tire carrier

Cheers,

Speedy

Welcome Speedy. Just curious. Whay do you use metric and you are in Boston? I'm only wondering.

I'm really a fan of this forum her. I'm glad those guys put this one together. It's starting to pick up nicely. Tghe other forums had gotten old to me. I was tired of having to sift through all kinds of vehicles to get to SWB Jeeps.

Everybody here so far appears to have good humor, too. That's really cool.

Jerry

I was wondering if the kms would catch anyone's attention. I'm Canadian, eh! Originally from Nova Scotia, I was living in Ontario when I purchased the Jeep (its got kms on the odometer). After a short detour in Chicago, I've been in Boston for 4 years now.

My interests are deeply divided between my Harley and my jeep -- I don't seem to have enough time or money for both. Every once in a while I go on a spending spree and upgrade tho.

This seems like a good forum so far. swbjeep has been dying a slow death these past few years, but I've been spending a lot of time on some motorcycle forums, so I haven't noticed much

I've got a 94 YJ 4 cylinder with 132,000 miles on it. There are not any engine problems. The only thing that is wrong is the electrical work and the extrior but someone messed with that.

I got mine in 2000 with only 62K on it. Not bad for a then 13 year old Jeep. Now it is old enough to vote and has 93K. I have done a lot of work but it has never let me down. Everything I have done was upgraded not repaired, except for the Carter carb. That was upgraded because it needed fixed.

94YJ 4cyl, 132,000 Miles.

Daily Driver
31x10.5 BFG MT's
1 1/4 shackle lift

Nothing but Routine maintinence so far. Lacking a little power, but think it's normal due to miles and 31's. Just starting to battle the RUST!

Smile 94 Yj

Ah another 94 YJ! I managed to score a 4.0L with 55,000 miles on it four weeks ago. Guy had bought if from a friend for his daughter to run back and forth to Cal Poly. 20k in the last 5 years and no underside scars. Completely stock except for a few spots from battery acid from a botched change by her ex-boyfriend.

Her loss -- my gain.

Awaiting delivery of a RE 2.5 lift kit. Tires and wheels to follow.

Excellent. I'm glad to see another YJer on this board. Stick around. The TJ guys try to gang up on us and we can't let them get away with it.

YJ ist der beste!!!

My 95' YJ is in the process of being overhauled, although it did not need it yet!It has 100,000+ and still rock solid. what ive done:4"lift 33"tiresbut what is even better is I have stripped down the frame, grinded, and sanded to smooth metal (roughly)and seal coated the whole thing! 3layers of each chasis coat and 3 layers of top coat, under coated the tub metal w/ that bed liner stuff (after welding a new floor pan to the drivers side)to the underside as well as the inside w/ three coats. I did it before all the rust started...pluss added removable boat plugs into the floor boards for water draining...

New member both to this board and to the Jeep family. I just acquired a 1994 YJ from a local mechanic with only 86,000 miles on it. So far the gas mileage on it is between 17-20mpg, if I drive like I should (which is very hard to say the least). It is pretty much stock with brand new 31x10.5's and I am in the process of refinishing the interior. I just painted my door panels and visors black and plan to herculiner the interior as soon as I can afford it. Also if anyone knows where I can get a good front end bumper (black) with a 2" receiver, send me a line, I need one for my new surf fishing cooler rack coming in a couple of months!

Why does 5th eat up gas?? you'd think it would be better on gas milage because it keeps the RPMs down i'm confused.

in my mustang if i left it in 4th all the time i'd get 8mpg! shifting into 5th seemed to help a lot on it's milage...

on tired jeeps 5th gear keeps the r's too low and you end up using the pedal harder to maintain speed (lugging it ) which is also bad for the motor
