yj rear seat

Hi-
I just got my jeep and I realized that the rear seat was leaning slightly forward (not too comfy for passengers...) anyway, I take a closer look at the seat, and it appears to be slightly too large- did someone try and put a tj seat in or something? Does anybody know if the tj seats are the same as a yj? I just want to know so I can put an ad in to trade or maybe just sell them, but I'm purty sure it ain't right for a yj... (its a 90 sarhara)
Serves me right for not checking out the rear seat when I bought it

I know they aren't stock because they are gray, not tan...

hmmm

I guess I was wrong- I thought all Sahara jeeps had tan seats...
ANyway, I know the back seat isn't stock because there appear to be original holes, and the seat is bolted into different ones.
I'm also pretty sure the front ones aren't either- the pass. side doesnt tilt forward and they are both maybe a tad big (there's no was even a jeep console could fit between 'em...) They also both lean slightly out toward the doors.
I'm kicking myself for not noticing this when I bought it- I new I'd have to have some work done, but its gettin' pretty frustrating.

here's the pics

The front of the rear seat is also attached with those hose clamps- they are also in the back holding the posts in the open brackets, so it can't fold up- seems pretty cheesy to me...

Ya, that is definately a TJ rear seat. I have one in the back of my 95. I used the factory brackets to mount mine, though. It actually fits pretty well.

yes, that seat is gray..............shims under the rear seat mounts to level it. over sized seats in the front. the guy made a non functional pleasure craft. look around in junk yards and on craigs list. some one may be looking for some seats. hook up with my95yj sounds like he has the ticket for the rear seat.

Yeah- until I find one that fits, I'll prolly put some spacers in the front side to rock it back a little- you can't really tell from the pics, but its pitched forward past perpendicular. Hardly sittable.

it's just a goot thing you got that rig away from the butcher of maine. ya, you gotta make sure that seat is good and secure for passengers safety. there is a thread on moving seats back toward the tail gate. more leg room and a fresh start for that seat.

Actually, it was a butcher in New Hampshire, or possibly Massachusetts (the title got bounced around a couple auctions...)
Its a sweet looking rig, but had a few more problems than I'd anticipated (I have a talent for picking out lemony fresh cars)
So far, I've put in a new exhaust (they cut out the cat. converter) rebuilt the carb, replaced the exhaust mainfold gasket and the valve cover gasket- now, I just have to bring the vacuum lines up to spec and deal with the DW (shakes like a bastid at 55...)

What have I gotten myself into??!

I just saw what I think is your Craigslist ad looking for a seat.

I'll keep an eye out during my travels for one.

I'm up RT 302 in Windham.

Oh, mine's not a Sahara.

Never mind.

The main thing is to try and get the brackets with the seat, if you don't have them. They were costing like $30 a set, just for the front brackets.
