yj sensor ?

what is the sensor on the back of the head near the intake i unscrewed it an its in a oil hole is it the temp sensor? whatever it is mine is broken off an i want to replce it but not sure what it is its a 2.5l

Coolant temp, shouldn't be any oil there.

thanks. im pretty sure when i pulled it out oil came out of the hole thought it may be the oil pressure sensor but the gauge works. an my temp gauge does not work i have a aftermarket one on the top rad. hose goose neck

would that sensor make my jeep run funny when its first started an sputter if i dont let it warm up

No. There's a coolant sensor (not the coolant sending unit for your gauge) in the intake manifold that adjusts the air/fuel mix when it's cold. You've also got the idle air control sensor and the throttle position sensor in the mix.

What year Jeep do you have? Have you checked codes (if it's '91 - up)?

its a 95. an its not throwing a engine light thats what gets me it runs fine once it runs for a min or 2

Are you sure? Does check engine light when key is just turned on and go out after it starts? If it does have it scanned you may have a pending code that didn't trip the light yet. I'd scan it either way just to see though.

I have a 4.o that had the same problem. The cranck sensor was my problem. Hope this helps.
