YJ starting problems

Since it's gotten really cold here in MN, I've had problems starting my 94 yj jeep. When I turn the key I have to wait for a clicking noise and this will go on for about 5 sec. The clicking noise is coming from the fuse and relay box under the hood. I noticed that it starts after turning it over three times so I tried turning the key three times without turning it over and then it starts also. The colder it gets the longer it takes for the clicking noise to start. Does it have something to do with the starter or relay/fuse box? Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Or is it the fuel pump? Very frustrated.

Hmm. I'm at a loss for that one, I'm sorry I can't help more. Hopefully another post will keep it up here longer so someone more knowledgeable than I can find this though.

Have you had someone turn the key for you as you pin point the clicking.
I would start with the starter soleniod first.

Merry Christmas Everyone

I had a similar problem, and it turned out to be the battery terminals. They looked fine to the naked eye, but after cleaning them, the problem cleared right up. Worth a shot.

I cleaned the battery terminals, replaced the spark plugs and wires (they needed to be replaced anyway), put in a new battery, and changed the fuel filter. I haven't had a chance yet to have someone try starting it for me to determine where exactly the clicking is coming from. I'll be doing that tonight. I'll keep you posted on what I find out. Thanks for the replies.
