YJ transfer case problem

ok... I thought I had a problem with my shift motor, until I jacked up the front end and spun the front driveshaft by hand, turns out my front hubs do lock however I am getting a slight grinding noise from the transfer case, do I need a new transfer case, or could it just need to be adjusted?

Try adjusting the linkage first. It doesn't go into high or low range? Seems a little odd. I've only torn a 231 apart once, but they are pretty simple. Probably cheaper to buy a used case than repair a broken one though. I took mine apart just to see how it worked and then sold it for parts.
