yj wont start in cold

i have an 88 yj with a 258 i6. when the temp outside is above 50 degrees it starts and runs great but if it 49 or lower i dont get any fire. it will turn over all day and when you switch the key from start back to run it get fire for a split second but not enough to crank. iv replaced the plugs, dist cap and button, plug wires, and key lock cylinder. the battery is about a year old and has 1000 cca. any ideas? its driving me crazy

I have the exact same YJ and the same thing happens to me. It's the crap automatic choke that is your problem. Go to Napa and buy a manual choke kit for $10. I bought one this past weekend, just haven't had a chance to install it yet.
