I have asap questions. The safari? Do you need to register? Doing some rapid homework or can you just show up and drive? HELP! Got a campsite at least.

I did find this but not sure if its mandatory unless you are going on a scheduled run.

Besides my wife's insisted hotel registration, I've always gone down without doing any registration then headed out to popular obstacles such as 'widow maker' and 'potato salad hill.' You will always find many many jeepers and spectators there.
All the popular trails will have lots and lots of jeeps and nobody has ever told me, "you can't come coz you didn't register."
Everybody has been friendly and welcoming. So much fun! I'll be there this weekend.
Good luck wheelin!

Kane's creek canyon

Kane creek is a fun trail. When I went there last year the trail was more eroded than my trail guide indicated. We had to complete it in darkness because someone got into trouble on steel bender and we had to help them before any one of us could pass. Just wondering, how did you survive Kane creek at night with all those mosquitoes?

Moab Easter Jeep Safari | Red Rock 4-Wheeler, Inc.
You only have to register & pay to go on trails with them, a couple of trails have a charge to use if they are private property or Parks. Sand flats is run by the County so there is a small fee per vehicle for the day or a weekly pass I believe is available. There are plenty of trails you can go on without joining the Red Rock 4 wheelers & quite honestly, they charge a lot to do trails with them anyway. If there is one of their guided trails on at the time you want to use that trail, it will be closed to the public untill they are finished. You are lucky to get a campsite usually they are all full by now.

Here are some individual obstacles on famous trails where I always find people and lots of jeeps during the jeep safari.
Metal Masher - Widow maker
Pritchett Canyon - Rocker knocker, White knucke hill
Hell's revenge - Dump bump, The shelf, Hot tub, Escalator. Potato salad hill is just barely outside the exit of this trail.
The Sand dunes are also a hotspot to visit if your jeep isn't broken

Had to laugh at your local, BFE! while you are in Moab you shoud go there & take a pic.

What trails you doing Sat & Sun?

Hey Steve, Surfin, ya out there?? We're coming back down for the final Sat/Sun. Might wheel to the top of Yellow Hill from the back side & hike down into Pritchet to watch the show. What ya think?

Ran into a snag. JEEP sent the wrong bloody part. So, sometime this evening after I yelled at everyone they started taking a hose off of a new Rubi in the lot. Hopefully I'll be rolling east in the morning... <sigh>

Not to contradict what you are saying, my wife and headed to Moab for our first time ever by ourselves (couldn't find any other jeepers willing to go this trip). We arrived last Saturday about 2pm and within an hour found fins & things, set out and totally enjoyed ourselves on this trail. The next day we did hells revenge... fun fun fun! The third day we did seven mile rim and top of the world, again no problems, and a whole bunch of fun and beauty, even with the light morning snow and overcast sky's. Our last day (Tuesday) we set on making poison spider our finale trail for the trip. We headed straight out to the entrance only to find that the trail was closed all day do to a pre registered only trail event. We had no idea and found a couple other jeeps parked near the highway, also we seen several other pi$$ed off looking wheelers being turned away. The other two jeepers we found parked explained that club that had reserved to the trail with the state for that day, however these guys had a special invite from from a corporate sponsor that was registered with the group. At that time we were asked if we wanted to join in with them on the trail. A few moments later we wear handed paperwork to sign (hold harmless agreements) and took our place in the rear of the 50 plus jeep train heading out, well mostly jeeps anyway. All i can say is, i am glad we did this trail with the club, it was a different experience, but once was enough with a group this size. Dont get me wrong it was cool meeting others and seeing all the rigs, but it was extreme stop and go all day long, trip took about 8 hrs. Groups should probably be less than a dozen or so on trails like this one. We cant wait to get back!! Moab is great!! We got lucky and found ourselves in the right place at the right time or else poison spider would have been off limits for us.

Fins and things is fun...we ran it at night... With no lights, that's an experience that will stick with you for awhile.

Bruce, I'm so sorry we couldn't connect this trip. Judy an I got home from Metal Masher (Big Sat Run) at almost 7pm! 1 guy broke an axle with 35's and a Dana 35, way too many trying Rock Chucker & Widow Maker and finally, we got a little lost getting out off the trail. I spent the rest of the night packing, putting my dorrs back on, etc, etc.

I definately learned that while Moab is such a killer place, I really needed to book fewer trips and relax more. We were gone 9 days and I didn't lounge in my chair even once!

Really appreciate you trying to connect and like I said, I'm really sorry we couldn't get together.

Hopefully it's not another year before we have a chance to meet up.

Take care my friend!

Steve

Thumbs down

I have some pics from EJS but my experience there was VERY disappointing. We did the first part of Fins and things thursday on our own. Then friday we got to the parking lot for Hells revenge and I couldnt stop smileing because there was nothing but 4 door JK unlimited Rubicons in the group. I was proud of everyone in the parking lot because I thought they where gonna try all the obstacles.. But then the trail leader said.. and I qoute. " This is hell's revenge its our premier slick rock trail. We can NOT do Hell's gate..... (I wasnt too put off by it) We can NOT do any of the Hot Tubs.... We can NOT do the escalator.... " I waited till right before we left and polity told him to take my jeep off his list. I wasnt about to stay on a flat slick rock trail for 7-8 hrs just to do tipover challenge. So I kept trying to find people who wanted to run a trail but couldnt. So we just went do High dive and upchuck and watched the EJS crew do it. So I just did a solo run with me and jon in my jeep in billings canyon out here monday. The news letter didnt say they werent doing any of the obstacles on hells, I was pretty upset, and dissapointed.
