4wd

Is it safe to shift an automatic jeep into 4wd in the P position?

Yes into 4H. Must be in N to shift 4L

Thanks! The other day I shifted into 4L and I heard the gears grinding so instinctual I turned off the car which is why I didn't destroy my car. Thanks for the help!
