Anyone know of a place that has trails and camping within 3 hours from NYC?

Hello everyone. I picked up a 2007 Wrangler last summer and I'm looking to find a cool place to take the kids that has trails and a campground. I live on Long Island and was hoping for something within a 3 hour drive of NYC. I haven't had much luck searching the web. Can anyone help me out with this?
Thanks!!!!

I have not been here but know many jeepers that have...it has primitive on-site camping but the site lists local full service campgrounds. Don't think it's too far from you...

Go to Rausch Creek. You wont be let down. Try to hook up with others ahead of time or sign up for a guided ride. You cant go by yourself. Minimum 2 vehicles allowed.
The place is great!

Thanks RatherBNmexico. Looks to be some good stuff there, I will look further into it.
Snax. Yeah, the more I look at their website, the more I think it's something I will definately do.
Like you mentioned, and it's stated on their site, they don't allow single vehicles on the trails. Do you know if it's common for people to show up solo (in case I can't get anyone to come) and then join up with a group there?

Rausch Creek is the place to go. Everything from easy trail riding to break your axle rock crawling

From NYC your looking at 3-3.5 hrs. Keep an eye in the trails section for groups getting together. I usually try to get there quite a few times during the warmer weather season. This year is kinda tough with wedding expenses but I'll still make a few trips.

BTW...if you walk up to a group of guys in the camping area and introduce yourself I'm sure they wouldnt mind you tagging along in the group.

Very cool of you BeerMonkey, thanks. I'd really like to take my kids and won't be able to go until the end of August because of busy schedules. I called Rauch and looks like they will be having another race Saturday, August 27th, camp overnite and I was told that they will be doing the guided tour the following day. So, as of now, that's what I'm shooting for.
I appreciate the offer. Have a blast and maybe I'll see you out there end of August.

RC is a good place to go wheeling. I'm going out a few times this summer once my buddy finishes/gets his buggy trail worthy. He's out in Bellport LI and he's made the haul a few times. keep an eye open I'll be posting when I'm headed out there and what kind of trails we'll be running
