Back from Llano

Well we finished up our second WF Texas Spur Jeep Jamboree. I think I can speak for all of us when I say this was much better than last year.

I have some video's that I'll post up when I get them uploaded. In the meantime here are some pics.

BTW, everything performed great. The suspension worked well, the tires were super sticky and the wheels held air at 6 pounds.

Looks good Scout... so what are you going to do to your Jeep for next years Jamboree?

Nice crunch on that rock in the water.

This was the first time out with everything other than taking it down some dirt roads.

We had some mud but it was mostly sand.

It rained almost all day on Friday and stormed on Friday night. I'm not sure how much rain we actually had but I'm sure it was close to a couple of inches. Although there is one person there who would say it rained 19 inches.

BTW, everything there is granite and when it gets wet it makes for some interesting hill climbs and off camber situations. There were several places where you had to sit and let your tires spin before you could get any traction. The worst part is that right before your wheels hit the rock for a steep climb there's a big ass puddle of mud to get your tires nice and moist.

Bed mount the spare. I have to get that damn thing off the rear of the Jeep.

Yeah that's me minus a body mount.

I didn't post that pic because it's completely out of perspective. The tree is actually by the camera lens but it does look like it's right by the Jeep.

Now that you mention it, I see it as a twig. But it is a good effect. It looks like your jeep is climbing up it.

This will give you an idea of how wet, muddy and slick the granite is. In places it's kinda like driving on ice.

Good. It kept us dry and didn't go flying off while I was on the highway.

I almost went without a top at all. I'm glad I took the time to slap it on.

The first time I saw that picture I had to do a double take.

You needed to heat them up a bit more. If you put some rubber on the rocks I'm sure you would have made it up without a winch.

Did you watch the video and take notes? Or do you just like repeating everything you hear on the net?

If you watch closely you'll see he put almost no tension on the winch cable. If he had given me another 10 or 15 seconds they would have hooked up. The good thing is that they are there to make sure no one tears their Jeep up. If I had slid another couple of feet to the right it would have kicked over.
