sounds good trip.. we can meet off of 65 and 26.. dont know if you've ever driven to laffeyette before.. thats the main road for the most part (26)

there is a walmart about a block away that we could meet up at.. you guys will just have to set a time when it gets closer, and one of you guys give me a call when your about halfway there.. it only takes me about 40 minutes to get to 65 from my house..

me and my gf are swapping jeeps for the ride down there.. ill be towing a pop-up camper behind hers..

I donno yj i think its best if we meet as we get closer to eachother. Its no need for us to go out of our ways to meet when our roads cross half an hr down the road anyways.

For example Jp lives straight north of me however instead of him going straight down to meet me close to where i live its closer for him to take another road and then meet me at 65. My route is the same way i take other highways and then end up at 65 so we can meet on that wendys at 65 i posted above. This wendys is the closest to the ramp of 65 i could find thats why i choose it. On google earth it shows there is a mcdonalds almost right in front of the ramp however map quest doesnt show it for some reason.

yah its definately out of my way to meet at 65 =p but its all good..

yj you can probably just take 65 north, you'll have to merge onto 465 then get back on 65 towards chicago.. this will run you right into laffeyette and you can meet us there..

that way we all can meet in laffeyette instead of attica.. and we can drive there together

are you going to be leaving a day early yj? or do you just plan on leaving at like 3-4 am? lol

Wal-Mart Supercenter Store #1547
4205 Commerce Drive
Lafayette, IN 47905

does that sound like a good place to meet? walmart would probably be the easiest place to spot..

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/4205+Co...tica+in+47918/

thats the directions from walmart to the badlands.. its a 30 mile drive, says its a 50 minute drive but itll only be like 35 minutes

its cool, also what do you guys think of driving up there friday afternoon and spending 2 nights there? Let the jeeps rest over night instead of wheel them after a long trip to the bad lands, make some barbecue for dinner etc.. lol

20 a nite per person? jeez. I went to a camp ground once and it was like 50 for an entire lot (big enough for an rv)

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=e...13&ie=UTF8&z=7
that is what google says will be the best way. so there is my itinerary. so is everyone down for going in the 2nd weekend in august, if not say now. and who is going to reserve the spots and how many peopole are going thus far?. i am primitive camping as far as i know. hopefully if it doesn't rain much i will just sleep outside!!

I'm in, my gf is also coming with me. I gotta talk to few more people here over the weekend and see if they will come too (unless there is a problem). YJ with gas.. it seems to be going up on regular basis so i woudlnt even worry about it lol. I'm sure by then it will be at least 5 bucks a gallon.

Also that seems like a great idea, if you leave early in the am and i leave after work we will get there about the same time

As for the bbq goes, do you guys think they will say anything if we use wood to make it instead of electric?

they don't care what you do out there, bring some gas to start the fire they won't mind.

i believe i will leave at about 12:30. Map quest says it will take me 2-2:30 hrs to get there so that should be around that time.

As for the burner... straight wood dude, you let it burn up so no more flames. just the little charcoal stuff after wards and thats what you use to cook the bbq on and its the best way to do it lol.

i'll get an 8 ft of 2x4 That will be great.

to meet you guys at 65.. i need about 45 minutes to get there hauling a pop-up..

ill be bringing a propane gas grill along.. i got a portable stove-top too..

ill get a pack or two of firewood too while im at it.. my neighbor owns a lumber yard here in town =D so i get a pretty nice deal on things..

the camping ground has firepits but you cant move them..

as for gas, there is a speedway a block from the entrance to the badlands, so we wont have to drive very far to fill up.. last time i went i only spent a 1/4 of a tank the whole day of offroading..

i'll be going with my TJ and we will see how it all goes but i might be sleeping inside it (no rear seat). I wish i had a camper so i can tow my rig but i dont so.. i assume thats what you mean by primitive.

I talked to a friend of mine, hes saying if he goes (he is unless someone here says something) he is bringing a full size compressor and bunch of tools and some spare parts. Hes got a Ford so the spares might not fit us however he will have air tools and such.
