Beach Driving Maintenance

Hi Guys, Iím a new member and proud new owner of a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport! With spring here and summer just around the corner I have every intention of bringing my rig onto the beach to do some fishing, BBQ and just relaxing. I have always known that vehicles and salt water are a bad combination and while I donít plan on taking the jeep in the water , Iím wondering if I should be concerned from just driving on the beach.

Besides washing down the undercarriage afterwards are there any other recommendations that I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance!!

I spray mine off with the pressure washer at the car wash on the way home. Then I park the Jeep and put the sprinkler underneath it and turn on the water full blast for about 20 minutes.

Dang Wrangler, that is an awesome idea! I never even thought of that.

I had been getting under it manually with hose. Dumb question, but what kind of sprinkler you using? Do you tend to point it more towards certain areas than others, like say stay away from engine bay, or does it not matter?

I use the "Melnor
Deluxe Turbo Oscillating Sprinkler". I found it at Home Depot. I don't shy away from any part of the undercarriage and so far have not had any problems with anything. Seems to get into all the hard to reach places cuz you can just see all the sand that is left on the driveway after you shut the water off.
