i have been away for a while trying to clear my head of all things jeep b/c "the rowdy jeepers"(my club) out of central ohio lost a club member in a rollover accident on memorial weekend. some may have known her on other forums as cbw4x4 or if you knew here personnally it was cheri.

I am only posting this to encourage safety at all times.....we dont know for sure if she had her harness on properly or not but either way it is an accident that may have been avoided if she was for sure wearing it properly. To all of those that take their jeeps out and beat them up like we do please make your next upgrade a goood set of 5 point harnesses and possibly a good roll cage(the cage held up but is what killed her). I was once in some of your positions and thought that it would be better to buy the lift and tires first and i did.....but i think a cage and good belts should be the first upgrade.

To all of us it was nothing but fun and games and now somebody got hurt and it has opened up a new book on safety. check your seatbelt twice and keep your arms legs and heads(the part she had out) inside the vehicle at all times.

think safety safety safety.. because it is no fun when somebody gets hurt or in this case killed

Makes it worse to hear she had a harness and a cage and this still happened. Guess you can't program every hazard out of life, just try to.

I hear ya brother. We had the same thing happen out here last Memorial Day. Kevin Ski4x4 (Formula Toy Class WeRock) happened to hop out of his buggy after a wheel slid off a ravine to lock in his front hubs. Thought he was just going to pull back up on the road all the way and then hop out and unlock again. Didn't work out that way and he didn't have his harness on when his buggy didn't bite the way he thought it would and it tumbled 6 times down a side hill.

Made us all think a little bit about our mortality. I went out 2 days after his funeral, but it honestly took me awhile to get back to wheelin right. You might give it a try Jake it helps.

I'm sorry to hear that. Thats what scares me when I ride with my friends who wheel with no top and the doors off. If you roll hard and fast enough you won't be able to hold your limbs in. I usually off road with the old hard top on. Plus I hate getting clocked with branches.
