Check the fire status before heading out.

Last I heard there was a 50/50 chance of them closing...

I've been monitoring the fires. If it gets to where the smoke and all is a issue, were heading south to either Moab or CO

We don't have any real set plans
Lol

If you don't have any set plans I have a few recommendations. Slough Creek is probably the best car camping spot in the park. You don't need a reservation, its a first come first serve campground. The trout fishing is pretty epic, and there is an abundance of wildlife. We saw Bear, Elk, Buffalo, various bird species, all from our campsite on the river. If you happen to pass by the Tetons camp on Shadow Mountain. Its not in the park, but in the National Forest on the other side of the Snake River and the highway. Camping is free, and the drive up the mountain on the dirt road should be pretty awesome in a Jeep. But the best part is the view. You camp on the mountain facing the Tetons and there is nobody around you! This is the best car camping spot I've ever been to!

Enjoy the trip, I always love going out there.

Ok... In Casper and ready to hit the Dino museum in thermopolis, then on to Yellowstone

The drive across Nebraska was interesting say the least.. Fighting a S wind at 20-30mph

Have a few shots from Nebraska, changing into Wyoming

Some things Ive learned driving a lifted, big tire jeep across country...

You decimate the bug population where ever you go.

You use all the paper towels and water at the gas station, cleaning the windshield.

You didn't realize 35 BFG KM2 could be so smooth at 80mph

You don't realize how much wind a 18wheeler buffers, until you are stuck behind on... Gives the soft top a work out

And I think this is the first vehicle I ever owned that has bug splatters on the suspension, diff, and inner fender

But man.. ARE WE LOVING IT!!!

I hope the panoramic pics look ok... I took them w my iPhone and I'm posting from my phone. So not sure how they look on the computer.

In Gillette WY now and hitting Devils Tower, Mt Rushmore and badlands before being home Sunday

Overall the Jeep is a blast to drive cross country. Was avg around 17hwy and while at Yellowstone, been around 21mpg. Driving beartooth and then fitting strong wind today put me in the 20smpg

That's doing it by the math.

But best part.... Driving in Yellowstone topless!!!
So worth the payments on the Jeep
LOL
