You need to think before you post, or just don't say anything. Their is a lot of jeep women on the forum. You're not making friends with them...

Not too many of either sex drive a stick anymore. I'll bet there is a small percentage of people under 30 that can drive one these days.

Hey, watch it buddy! Just because we are under 30, doesn't mean that we can drive one of those "stick" thingies... If I could just figure out where "D" is on the shifter... Just numbers though, I guess that Means "D" is 4?

You know, I'm under 30 and most of my friends can't drive stick, it's a sad thing, most of them would enjoy driving more with a stick too. I call it "Active driving" where some people just get too passive with an auto, a stick will keep you on your toes. Especially in heavy traffic. A lot of people are just afraid to learn. All this is the reason you can hardly buy a truck with a stick anymore. I had an F-150 a few years ago, to get a stick and a V8 it was a special order item, and I waited for it because I don't really want to drive any other way.

I found an auto for Anya to drive. I was going to gear the crap out of it cause it is nice to wheel auto. Just one less thing to worry about. She wasn't having it. She wanted a 5 speed so that's what she got.

IMO, an auto is much better than a stick. However, everyone should know how to drive both.

Don't let'em get you down bigjeeper, you are right most people do drive auto's.

I grew up learning to drive on an 83 CJ-7 with a manual. My parents wouldn't let me drive until I could drive a stick. Funny thing is that jeep still has the original clutch in it.

I sold cars for two years and I think I have the data to confirm that most women don't like manual trannys. In those two years I think I had three women drive manual tranny vehicles. On the other hand I went on a lot of rides with guys that didn't have a clue how to drive a stick.

I sold cars for a few years too. I agree that not many women are interested in driving stick. I actually taught an 18 year old girl how to drive her new car when she bought it. it took me two hours but she was a champ in the end. I've also made sure that my 3 sisters know how to drive stick you never know when you'll be in a situation where it would be needed. I personally love my 6 speed and my girl has a scion tC and all she wanted was a stick (one of the reasons I love her so much)

I have a permanent twitch from when I was taught to drive stick. Screaming clutch at someone usually isn't the best way to keep them from grinding your gears.
