Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Western Washington Oregon, Colorado.
No need to leave the country for excellent offroading.

Or you could try to break this world record. Or I guess, match it might be the best you could do.

The Jeep Wrangler has set the Guinness World Record for highest altitude attained by a four-wheeled vehicle after ferrying Matthias Jeschke and his Extrem Events adventure team up Chile's Ojos del Salado, the highest volcano on Earth. The trek from base camp to the world record height ran from March 7 to March 13, when the team's pair of Wrangler Rubicon Unlimiteds checked in at 6,646 meters, or 21,804 feet.

There might not be a NEED to leave the country. But how about a desire?

I've been blessed to have lived in Oregon, Washington, Colorado and Utah. And I've spent lots of time in Arizona and New Mexico. I love this area, but it doesn't feel exotic or adventurous.

The Waves formation, not far from my former home in Kanab, UT.
Fantastic off-roading in that area.

I would have loved to do something like the Paris to Dakar Rally but other than that, not so much.

Exotic and adventurous wears off pretty quick.

Excellent!

The Paris-Dakar rally has been held in South America the past two years, and has lost some of its glamour for me, but I would LOVE to run that race. It's a little too "Land Rover" for me, but the Camel Trophy/G4 challenge would be awesome too!

In the meantime, you could always head up to Priest Lake and the panhandle - there's some great off road areas there, and you might even see the Woodland Caribou! Only place in the lower 48 with Caribou, and it's practically in your backyard. I like that area.

Awesome! These guys did it. And honestly this big custom van might be a better choice than a convertible Wrangler.

The same guys from Iceland that built that van also customized the truck for Top Gears North Pole run. Arctic Trucks.

I would absolutely love to do Mongolia in a Jeep. They have all sorts of terrain, and some really interesting culture.
Imagine Jeeping through the Gobi desert, or the Altai mountains. Staying in a yurt, watching the stars with absolutely no pollution or light of any sort interfering. Possibly fending off armed horsemen along the way...

Fantastic.

Sain baina uu indeed
