Fuel consumption on-trail?

Kinda curious how your rig(s) fuel economy goes when off the beaten path. I apologize if this has been covered already, but just wanted to know. Was out in Moab for the first time this past weekend and I managed to squeeze in the baby lions back and the first section of fins n' things between our group's mountain bike adventures. I started on full and after those 2 I noticed my fuel gauge said I was out a 1/4 of a tank (admittedly I didn't pay too much attention after getting off the trail). I was messing around with everything from 2hi to 4lo just to get a feel for things, I'm completely stock running 31" GY SilentArmors and ran them at 23-25psi, and I parked it and left it running for a few minutes here and there to get some pictures/scout ahead. Aired back up afterwards to 32-34psi, filled the tank, and my highway mileage was the same as always (17-18ish). Is that kind of consumption on-trail normal or should I just chalk it up to my gas gauge just getting bounced around for a bit and hadn't re-settled? Thanks ahead of time and take care.
