Harlan KY in Feb 2009, winter ride

So who wants to go to Harlan, KY in Feb. With hopes to go wheeling in the snow.

I would love to go, and get a group of folks together.

Remember, they rent 3 room houses for $150 a night..get 10 folks together, that is only $15 a night. We ran into a group of 20+ that rented a house and it looks like they had plenty of room.

Just throwing the idea out there.

Haha, I knew it wouldnt be long before you set up a thread for the return trip. Hell yea, Im in. I can only cross my fingers I will have enough $$ to swing another trip there but money is only a minor detail. Easily overcome by jacking the candy of small children and selling it on the streets. I can promise you if there is any possibility of me going I will be there. Snow would make it a hell of a lot more challenging/fun too. Id actually like to go right after the snow starts to melt a bit. When we can look forward to some of those washouts looking more like large streams and the rocks could get a little muddy.

You guys really need to meet in person...

If we get enough folks together I don't really care, but I figured since we know Harlan and could lead a little bit bigger group up there..also we know about housing.

I bet if we asked the Rowdy Jeepers, they would show up.

I will not be happy until i have long arms and lockers...then I will shut up!!

Hopefully next year...

Well build the long arms and weld your spiders...problem solved Yea, Im sure the Rowdy guys would go anyway. I know what your sayin with knowing the place well eonugh so we could lead a group a little more easily. I jsut wanna go to as many new places as I can. What about the badlands in Attica, IN. I heard that is a great place to go and it looks like its got plenty to offer.
Badlands Off Road Park - Indiana, 4x4, ATV, motorcycle riding, sand dunes, mud pits, rock crawling

Tellico=635 miles for me

With my current financial situation it may be a while before I can drive that far. Besides, I got some stuff to get done on the rig before I come to a place like that. Coilovers are next and hopefully can be done in a few months.

Lol, alright...I GUESS Im sorry. Called unlimited today, Im gettin my Jeep back Friday. Probably gonna do some light wheelin with er' before I head back to school again. I wanna test out my sliders now that I got them bolted up. Im not gonna have the time to get the front end ripped apart to get the seals in for the front locker until probably Christmas break. Unless I can work fast this weekend but I have a ton of stuff going on that is gonna hold me up.

Regardless, I will be ready in time, where ever we decide to go!

I know a very specific place where you can test out those rockers.

Hey question, were your axle shafts chromoly that blew up?

The axles were built the right way, of course the shafts are chromoly. But those didnt get messed up. Those are tuff as hell so they are fine. Just all the bearings, ring and pinion, and the seal housing for the ARB that got messed up. Oh, and the drive shaft too.

I finally got my overheating issue fixed so I am ready to hit it.Harland in the snow will be exciting.Especially that one trail with the 500 foot drop off on the left Hey Grn you know the one I would just like to find a D44 before hand and regear the front to match.but ill go the way I am if I have to.One thing about it if theres snow on the ground It wont take me a month to get all the dirt, dust and mud out of my interior.

Harlan, Ky = 175 miles

I ordered a re superflex 3.5" lift today and will be buying my tires and wheels next week.

I plan on having new lockers and gears installed by January, if I can get off of work I may make the trip.

Payed $950 yesterday to get my Jeep back after the rear axle was completley rebuilt. Now oil is leaking out of the passenger side axle tube. I called them up and they said everything went together as it should. Only thing they can think is that the axle flange where the race is pressed in at has been warped by the heat (it had spun inside the axle tube) and now its out of round. So when the oil is cold it doesnt leak by but once its at operating temp and its thinner it can leak out the end like that. Not their fault really, they rebuilt the axle just like they were supposed to. Just makes me REALLY pissed at the guy I bought it from. Solution:Cut the old flange off of the axle and weld a new one on there. DOH! The owner is real cool and I told him I have NO money left after all that. He said he will get me the part at cost and do it at a reduced shop rate on labor. So I guess once I get about another $100 its going back to the shop to be fixed againOn an upside, he gave me a free sticker and I threw it on. Guess thats the only positive thing I got going for me right now. If it wernt for all these school bills draggin me down it would be in there again right now. Hopefully once that gets taken care of I will be set. Wish me luck fellas, it may be a while before any other mods get done after this. But hell, Im not about to miss another trip to KY or where ever. I want to hit the lower garden in the melting snow very badly.

p.s.
End rant...
