Headed for Uwharrie this weekend (first time)

A buddy and I are headed for Uwharrie this weekend. This will be the first time I've really hit the trails there and I'm fairly inexperienced offroading. Anything I need to know? My jeep's set up pretty well so I'm not too worried about it from a technical standpoint. My buddy is taking his girlfriends jeep which I think is stock so we'll probably be sticking to Falls Dam and Wolf's Den.

Some of the trails are REALLY rough. Stop in at the Eldorado Outpost (store on 109 right before you turn into the forest). They should be able to tell you what trails are good for newbies.

As you can see Daniel is the hardest and if you do not want to attempt the rougher terrain take the much easier backside and at least enjoy the view... (mind out of gutter but the only good view there)

You can do every trail at ure in a stock TJ jeep on 31's, on daniel its best to have rockerskids and a good line AND DISCONNECT SWAY BARS (take a socket set with you)

He caught his rear bumper but you gotta expect that

Ledge 2 at daniel is also passable stock but have a good spotter
After you pass the switch back to take the easier route to the top stay left.

There are rougher parts on other trails but all obstacles have a bypass

AND FOR GOD'S SAKE ... STAY OUT OF THE SOUP BOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

35'S ARE TO SMALL FOR IT

Have fun Arrowhead has the best bathrooms and only bath houses but gates open. We camp on the trails and drive to the bath house when necessary.
Enjoy we love pics!

If your jeep is a manual tranny be really careful with over using your clutch while on the trails there. Even the easiest trail is still very un even in parts and the terrain will have you rocking back and fourth in your Jeep. Good way to burn out your clutch if your not careful.

URE is fun but you may want to get down there and drive around the forest on all the dirt roads checking out the different Jeeps and talking to others first. Lots of people always there any given day especially on the weekends. Oh and leave your top on or come home and spend days cleaning all the dirt off your interior from the dust clouds everywhere.

I don't condone going in there unprepared and I didn't make it clear that I don't want you guys going up Daniel alone first time but if you do you should be prepared. I'm open front 33's lsd rear and get hung up in very precarious situations if I choose to take harder lines. I can show videos of guys built flipping on that same rock.

IF he is just as experienced or less DO NOT GO THE FRONT SIDE. Stick to the back and turn around at the top and you'll be fine.

There is a lot to see at Uwharrie that honestly can be seen in 8 hrs or less

Thanks for the suggestions yall. I know the Uwharrie area pretty well, I've been camping up there a lot. Last time I went out and hiked some of the jeep trails, this will be my first time on them with a Jeep though. My Buddy owned a jeep for years and is more experienced than I am, but no worries EdJones, I don't have any plans to try Daniel. Thanks for the map, I've marked the anotations on my paper map. Will post pics when we get back
