First time seeing it. Taking a brand new 2012 Jeep Wrangler. Going to be at the west rim. Any advice, tips, places I should go?

I've been to the North & South Rims. It's great hiking!! I would love to go back in my TJ down to Tuweep.

Just visited Tuweep/Toroweap last month. It was an awesome experience - only saw three other people while there. There are lots of other places to check out on the way to Toroweap and it's a place most people will never get to see.

How bad were the roads? The Grand Canyon's website makes it out to be really bad? I guess I should ask what size tire you got too...

The route we took was 61 miles of gravel road and only the last 10-12 miles were rough enough to require high clearance and decent tires. The rocks can be sharp enough to cut a tire. Four wheel drive is not required. Just be prepared with plenty of food, water and fuel because there are no services, cell phone coverage or water sources. It is rated as one of the most remote areas in the lower 48 and the nearest hospital is in St. George which is 120 miles away. It's well worth the trip.

Toroweap is on my list to visit. The view of the river from there is fantastic!

We stopped in Roswell Yesterday for our share of UFO fun. Grand Canyon tomorrow. We are staying near the west rim, 45 miles from Diamond Creek road which is the only road down into the canyon. We'll keep you updated. Thanks for all the info and replies!

Haven't got there yet. But I have a 3" suspension lift and 35" tires. I should be good.

Anyone have updates from their Grand Canyon trips?

We're making plans for a loop from Tucson to Sedona/Jerome to Grand Canyon to Las Vegas and then home to Tucson.

I'd appreciate any feedback or tips!

Toroweap is awesome, no guard rails! When you leave, take the trail that goes by Mt Trumbull.

Awesome. I'm in the same position as you just 2 weeks later. We were originally planning on going to Tuweep but decided that we will be going to the South Rim for 2 nights and 1 night to Havasu Falls. Pretty excited for this trip! Spent $1,300 just preparing my new Jeep for it.

Looking forward to the pictures.

I will make this trip as well. I have two upgrades left, Installing my winch, and the purchase of a Genright fuel tank. then by next year I will be ready. So keep us informed of this trip or experience people could share for us on planning to go.
