Heart of the West 2013

Last year my son and I rode our motorcycles around the Forever West route put together by Tony Huegel at BackCountryByways. This year I'm taking my Jeep instead of my dual sport bike. The current version of last years trip is now called Heart of the West and is around 2800 miles covering parts of CO, UT, NV, ID, MT and WY.

This kind of trip is why I purchased my Jeep, and it gives me the opportunity to take a passenger and plenty of gear to make the trip comfortable. I still love the bikes, and get a lot more adventurous with them; they are much less expensive to fully equip compared to a Wrangler.

We'll be leaving at the end of July, and it's about two weeks to go all the way around. Some of this is on pavement, and some is on almost never used two-track. The rest is in between. With luck we'll catch a little Fall color, but I think we will be about two weeks early.

Sounds like a fun trip. If you are in Leadville Colorado between July 28 and Aug 4, you would likely enjoy a visit to Mile Hi Jeep Clubs All 4 Fun event. It's at Leadville this year, is a week long 4x4 event with trail rides, vendors and much more. It's not free and open to the public, but if you show up with a Jeep asking what is going on, they'll let you in to see what goes on.

For official information check this link... 2013 MHJC All-4-Fun Information

And welcome to the forum. You will be in some of the greatest 4 wheelin' country anywhere out west.

That sounds like something I will check out. The dates fall exactly between two of my off road motorcycle events and I will be close by. Hope they let me in for a peek!
