I searched for this on the forums but couldn't find anything, I apologize if I've missed it. Luckily, I've never flipped my jeep, but if I did, what are some tips for turning it right side up? I've flipped a go-kart but I just lifted it back up. Would you be able to do this with a winch simply or do you chock tires, etc... If you have experience, please post tips, stories, warnings, and words of wisdom here!

Well, I was involved in my fathers Motorsport team my entire childhood because of my mothers death. What I have learned is from a Theodore Roosevelt quote. " Do what you can with what you have, where you are. " that being said try to roll the vehicle from roof to engine exhaust side to wheels down. Always remove the spark plugs rotate engine by hand than crank over with plugs still out then start. If it starts refill oils and wobble out of the woods.

In my experience hooking a strap or cable up to the roll cage or frame and giving it a yank does the trick. But you need a bit of room for that so on some trails it won't be practical.

But "do what you can, with what you have, where you are" is excellent advise for this subject... But just remember that no matter how much you love that jeep and want to get it righted... Safety is ALWAYS the #1 concern.... That mean putting a dampener on your winch cable and thinking things over before doing them.

The ONE time I flipped my 89YJ..... I was going 30 mph on an icy road and flipped it over in a ditch. A guy passing by helped me rock it and rock it until we got it on it side....... then we rocked it until it went up onto the wheels..... not for the squeamish or wimpy..... it took some effort. Drove it off..... no issues, but, a little smoking.... pulled no plugs or seals...

Whenever you're righting it from laying on it's side, is there a chance that it'll pop a bead on the tire or misalign the wheels on the ground side? It seems like a lot of weight on those two tires. Thanks for all the advice!

I forgot to mention if using a winch alway cable out settle the vehicle. For instance if a vehicle is on the side hook it over the top and to the frame. Then use a jack to raise it and use the winch to lower it.

Well I'm west coast Cali so we have boulders here. Some up in the north east have similar courses and get heavy on the skinny pedal. West coast are " fast as you must, not can" and mostly automatics.

Really it depends on the situation. Most of the time a winch or two is all it takes. For example here's my buds CJ after he flopped. Just a winch, snatchblocked to a big ass rock, then attached to the frame.

Of course after a flop/roll you do need to pull the plugs and what not.

Come on up. That's Cali there. Last I checked shipping across the big pond was $2500 US dollars. It's all free camping and stuff.

What's the max legal tire now down there? Your land is on mine. But on a enduro. I have drove there but too fast to stop and enjoy the country. My father owned four fisa cars.
