I've never been myself but I've been told the George Washington forest may offer just what you're after! Good luck, im also on VA let me know what you come up with.

Peters Mill Run and Taskers Gap are short but fun, unfortunately they are both closed till April. Flagpole (Harrisonburg, VA) seems to be the only place open. I have not been personally (trying to plan a trip within the next few weeks) but I have heard good things about it. There are a lot of trails that split off the main trail that will give you plenty of time to play =) Also, from what I understand, it is possible for a stock vehicle to make it up, but you will need to be careful and have a spotter in a few areas. If you have a modified vehicle there are parts of the trail that you can choose a more advanced route.
There are a few people planning to go up Flagpole on 2/16, if you are interested in joining just let me know. Hope this helps.

Shoe Creek is a great place to go in VA, also a Olathe called "the coal road" off of I-64, and Flagpole is great....a long trail with three options to take.
