NJ Pine Barrens.

New to the forum, I was wondering if anyone is interested in a pine barren run. I live on staten island and me and 4-5 buddies are looking to pack out the jeeps and head up there. Also, looking for any tips where to go, where to go in, some good trails. Any advice would be great. Looking to go either early Saturday or Sunday morning. Goof to be a beautiful weekend!

Welcome to the forum! If you take the GSP to exit 86 i think and go west on rt 70, you can find all the fire trails that take you into the pines. Also rt 72 will also take you into the pines. i havent done all the pines, but from what Ive seen, there isn t anything that great unless it rains. Its a lot of flat sand going through scrub pines. You see some cool lakes, and old tracks maybe ruins of old glass plants but thats it. If you stay overnight, it can be creepy out there, especially if your by leeds point! (birthplace of jersey devil) Have fun!

The Pines is great! I just put a run on last weekend! GREAT turnout and run. I plan on having one in the winter (depending on weather, maybe in the SNOW!) and defiantly more in the spring. I think i am going to be going to school in NJ next semester due to college CRAP so ill be around ALL the time!

They are great for stockers.
A few people on my run had stock JKs and did great!
If you go to alone make sure you know someone who would be available to recover you! bring a winch, some come-a-longs, other recovery gear.
I would suggest going out with someone. Definatly safer.

I plan on heading out there this winter so if anyone goes out there keep me in the loop. I have three or four people who would love to come along.

We went Sunday morning. Exit 57 on the parkway. A gas station employee helped us out with directions and it turned out to be a great day. We found a little sandpit with a huge burm and lots of hills to crawl on, was a beautiful day as well.anyone plan on making a run let me know, would love to go do some new land.

I go wheeling at wharton all the time, some pretty fun trails after a good rain. "the car wash" will leave you wanting a snorkel.

This picture was taken on the shallow side, ive had water up to the windshield on a few occasions.

wow

Can you do that without serious leakage? I'd be terrified of taking my brand spankin new JK into deep water, esp above the 30" fording limit.

I love riding the pines. I usually enter by Mount Misery off Rt. 70.
