Novice off roader looking for trails in the KC, KS Area

So, as the title of this post says, I am a novice (more like first timer) off roader looking for simple trails around the Kansas City Metro. my '10 JK is basically stock. I just recently got some 31" Nitto Terra Grapler All terrains on my jeep (a very nice upgrade from the 225/75 r16) and I am anxious to do some trail riding. This jeep hasn't been heavily modified because I rely on this vehicle for all transportation and I don't have a lot of extra cash to risk repairs I might get on some trails. So to the point: Are there jeep trails near me that are simple enough for a novice rider that doens't test the vehicle's limits to it's max?

Also, do you more experienced of roaders have any words of wisdom for a novice like me?

Thanks,

Buz

The nearest legal park is Kansas Rocks, in Mapleton, Ks. They are only open on the weekend. They also put on a 101 class every once in awhile. They have some mild trails, which are marked, and they have a map on their site. Here is a link to their site: KS Rocks Park.

The next closest is Tuttle Creek, over by Manhattan. It is run by the Corps of Engineers, and the trails there are not rated, as far as I know. There are usually maps of the trails at the entrance, by the toilet, if someone hasn't taken them.

If you are interested, there are jeep and 4x4 clubs in the area. There also a couple of informal groups that get together about once a month. One you can find on this forum, the Northlanders Group, and then there is the JK Owners, that you can find on the JK Owners Forum.
