One man; 4 hours; a 305lb rolling cabinet on roof rack

Mods: Not sure how this got posted in on the trail... I thought I submitted it from "off topic". Sorry.

So yeah. That was incredibly stupid of me to have them load a 305lb rolling tool chest onto my roof rack. My first hint should have been that they loaded it with a FORKLIFT.

So in case anyone else makes a similar mistake, here's how I got it down.

And obviously I need the cabinet for all of my Jeep tools.

Note: With the drawers removed, it weighed just shy of 200lbs

Hashtag stupidity...

!!! Funny how common sense turns off at the most opportune times. Good job getting it down in one piece and without getting hurt. Pics are great!!

Haha glad I could be of entertainment. I was loathing my lack of common sense the whole way through it. Now I can't help but laugh at myself. Glad I got some pics too, though the quality isn't great, that wasn't my top priority at the time.

Yes, leverage is your friend.

This is why Monkeys don't drive jeeps.

Good use of your garage tools. :-)

After that stunt, I sure feel like a monkey !

And agreed. The whole time was a giant recap on physics. Using slopes and planes to my advantage... Using levers.

Also I wore my prl when I was walking on my roof and lowering it down... in case anyone cared about my safety

You get my vote for most creative use of a trash bin.

I'm just glad the bin didn't sustain any damage... I ended up pushing the cabinet all the way on top of the bin so I could deconstruct my 5 gal bucket level. But then the trash bin wanted to roll away... Having wheels and all.

Or, go find two big guys. Promise them beer after it's off the Jeep. No problem.

Yeah... all my buddies are TDY or deployed. But I agree, that would have been easiest.

I still like that series of steps you built, to get it down off the Jeep top. Pretty good thinking!
