Ouray CO.

My wife and I are heading up to Ouray/Telluride area this weekend for some camping and wheeling with some friends. We are planning on doing blackbear but my wife is pretty sure we will all die if we do. Lol. How bad is Blackbear really? We are rockin our new (to us) 2000 TJ on 31s and bone stock otherwise.

I did Black Bear in a Suburban years ago. The switchback was interesting.

We're going there in September for our second honeymoon after a 30th anniversary party. I think we get there on the 12th and will stay until we get bored or the kids burn the business down and I have to file the insurance papers.

How EXPERIANCED are you with Wheeling ? Black Bear is NOT to be taken LIGHTLY, and be assured that you should have a VERY KNOWLEGABLE / EXPERIANCED Spotter
that knows his sh!t.

BY THE WAY ~~~ There is a bunch of Forum Members that will also be there this coming Weekend, and they will be running Black Bear >>>Black Bear-Immogene 7-27 thru 7-30

I should've included that in the OP. I have been wheeling since '04. Had an XJ crawler and a Toyota mini truck crawler. Have a FJ60 for cross country wheelin. I'm not the most experienced, but I've got some trail time under my belt. Going with a group of guys who have far more experience than I and would be spotting through.

We may just hang back and check out Telluride while they do Blackbear.

I in NO WAY was trying to discourage you from doing the run, my intentions were only to advise that it's NOT a run for a Rookie / alone. Common sense goes along ways when it comes to being safe to do another run the following weekend, or in the future.

No I didn't take it that way. I was more thinking for my wife's piece of mind lol. She has only been wheeling with me for a year or so so she still gets very nervous even on simple obstacles. May reserve Blackbear for when she is a little more comfortable.
