Pine Barrens advice

I'm planning a trip to the Pine Barrens with my buddy (who sadly does not have a Jeep) Neither of us has ever been there before.
Where are some good places to go?
I'm from NY, so we'd prob rather go in more on the northern end of the Pine Barrens. I'd say our skill level is intermediate.

Thanks!

October 1st. and 2nd. We were planning to camp. I should probably ask, are you allowed to camp?

Also, I was looking at the NJ DEP's website, and there is no mention of offroading being allowed anywhere. What's the deal with this?

stay home. the pines is not worth the trip. head to Raush Creek over the pines. from Y RC is almost closer, its also legal and not all mud.

Really? I thought I had seen that there were tons of annoying rules and fees to go to Rausch, I don't really want to pay a boat load of money to go.

Thanks for your reply!

there are some rules and you need to pay to play but IMO its worth it. the pines is basically dirt roads with puddles

And Rausch is what? Can you camp there? How much is it roughly?

Thanks!

RC is everything from dirt roads to boulder fields, mud rocky trails hill climbs lots to chose from. I think its $35 for the day plus a yearly member ship of like $10. they do allow camping there.

I see... interesting. Though 2 days, $70 plus all the gas starts to add up. How long does it take you to get there?

RC is considered the best offroad destination in the north east. If you are with in a reasonable distance of it and want to go wheeling legally nothing should stop you from choosing RC.. Place is awesome with everything from beginer to advanced trails. People who have found the money tree that live in WNY go down to RC at least once a month.. Wish I could find that damn tree..

We go actual camping a lot, so we def don't need creature comforts. Is it big campgrounds? Can you camp wherever you want in the woods? Are there isolated camp grounds?

Thanks

hahaha... he might kill you and never want to go back there again. He thought for a while that his Trooper was as good offroad as my Jeep (I know, what was he smoking??) So we did a little offroading in an empty lot near us with some big rock formations, and I destroyed him.
