Recommended trails in California

So I just got a wrangler sport, and im dying to take it out on the trails. Ive gone off roading a few times before, but definitely not ready for something like the rubicon or something. Does anybody know any good, moderate trails to go on in Northern California? I havent gotten a chance to make any modifications yet, so everything is still stock. Also, any mods that i should absolutely make for the future?

Depend on where in northern Cali you are. Give a better idea of where you are and you'll find more info. Not a lot of crawling but there are some great dirt roads that will take you to sme out of the way spots you would not be able to see w/out a jeep or motorcycle. Have fun and tread lightly.

Not sure where in Northern Cali you are, but you can get a map of all the forest service roads at any forest service station. Word has it you can get from Sonora to Carson City on forest serivice roads. All of these roads are legal to wheel on as long as you don't go past any locked gates.

Like sssaksena said cow mountain is great. I went on that trip this past week end, we wheeled quite a bit and only touched on the amount of trails up there.
