The Rubicon trail

Who is going this summer? I want to go in late July to mid August some time. Unfortunately my club is not going so is there any one out there who wants to make a group and do a run on the rubi? I would like it If some one had done it before. Because of my age I don't have all the experience all you veteran jeepers have.

I'm not sure when my school starts but I could probably do that. I made a thread on JF too and there's some people interested on there too.

The end of July is the Jeepers Jamboree on the Rubicon. It's a great way to run the trail for the first time IMO. Plenty of help, guides as needed, great food, and lots of great people.

The jeep jamboree is a good idea. If it's anything like TDS and other big organized runs its too slow for me.
I'm not trying to be too picky because I'm new and know I may need assistance but at TDS my I pod died and sitting in the heat for 20 minutes then moving a 1/16 mile got old quick

The Jeep Jamboree or the Jeepers Jamboree are both great ways to experience the Rubicon for the first time. They get you in and they get you out. Mechanics, guides, food, helicopters flying stuff in and out all day.

As far as slow, its not any slower than if you went on your own. In fact, the trail is closed to the public. So you have a regulated trail compared to folks doing what they want. They do a fantastic job of getting broken vehicles off to the side so the traffic flows.

I have worked both of these events back in the late 80's and early 90's and as rock roller or a "guide" and while there may be a log jam on occasion, its rare and somewhat expected when you have 300-400 jeeps on a single tract trail.

Wether you go on an organized event or solo with some buds, its 4-lo and idle speed 99% of the time.

Oh, and they entertain you with live music, great food and full bar.

IMHO its a no brainer.

Aug 9-11 Jeep Jamboree Rubicon Trail

Hi there,

I've actually signed up for the Jeep Jamboree Rubicon Trail from 9-11 August.

Were you going with that one, or going with a different group?

Fire and fatality on the Jeepers Jamboree Rubicon

This morning's Sacramento Bee is reporting that there was a vehicle accident/fire including possibly a fatality on the Jeepers Jamboree Rubicon run over the weekend. Several acre fire apparently burned to the trail. Any one have any addtional information? Could impact any new runs this summer.

I dont know her personally but her name is Rachel and is the neice of one of our plant managers. From what I am told 75% of her body has 3rd degree burns and they needed to amputate a leg. Supposedly she tipped over fell off a fairly high cliff (100ft per co-worker) and the jeep caught on fire.

Thoughts and prayers to her and her family.

Mods: Not sure on the rules about linking but if needed you can edit this post.
