Speaking of paint....the wife finally noticed yesterday all the pinstriping I got from my first trip out there. Boy was she pissed. But she dropped it. We'll see how long she'll remain silent on the issue.

Ouch, a lot of them will buff out. Has she gone wheeling with you yet? I might take a look at the large trail today and see what we have to work with.

Nope, hasn't been yet. My son (6 years old) really wants to go next time, so if any of you guys want to bring your kids, I bet they'll have a good time. I'm going to try and talk the wife into going next time. If it's not too hot and we're only out there for an hour or two she'll probably be game...any longer and she won't want to do it.

Yeah, I tried and it wouldn't take a charge....don't know if sitting in direct sunlight gorked the battery or if it was internal damage.

I'm in chigger misery right now, BTW. Next time I'll be wearing long pants.

yeah, about a dozen. Can't stop scratching them. I'm definitely wearing some OFF and long pants for now on out there. I seem to react pretty strongly to chigger bites.

Thanks or this thread. We will be down next week for a week and might have to check out the trails. As far as the misses; mine was hesitant of a lift and extras on my jeep until I took her below the damn on Grand Lake to 4x4 and now she's ready for me to lift and up grade as well as get her own.

Grand Lake, eh? I spent some time out in Jay/Grove about 11 years ago. Beautiful area.

I just stumbled on this thread. Am in Prosper and didn't know about these areas except for the Custer/121 place.

Have a winch and recovery gear so if anyone wants my number, PM me. Willing to help those in need if able.

I've got other commitments tomorrow but I can probably do Sunday if anyone's interested. I'll be bringing my son. At this point I can't imagine there's any mud left out there given all the heat we've had.

We had one torrential downpour that lasted for maybe fifteen minutes yesterday around 5:15. May have a little, itty bit of mud.

I'm up for either Saturday or Sunday and I'll be bringing my two boys again - they had a blast last time even though Drew fell in the mud up to his knees. Heck, I might do both! As DFW6ER said earlier, though, we'll be bathing in Off to keep the chiggers away. I had a few and so did the boys......not fun. What time are folks planning to head out? I've got early morning commitments each day until about 10:30, but should be free after that.

DFW6ER - If you're bringing your son on Sunday, I definitely want to hook up. What's your plans as far as timing?

The earlier the better as far as the heat is concerned. We didn't get a single drop of rain here in Flower Mound yesterday. I guess we'll have to see if it's muddy there or not. I'm not going to risk getting stuck in mud unless someone with a winch goes too. I know Malfunction said his boy was wanting to go as well...all of our kids are about the same age I think so I know they'll have a good time. I'm going to wear some pants soaked in Repel (Academy sells it), as well as lots of OFF. I'm still scratching a few chigger bites.

Let's shoot for 10:00 on Sunday. That will give us a good couple hours before lunch and hopefully the bad heat of the day. I think I can push my run a bit earlier and be heading that way by 9:30. The more the merrier on whoever wants to join us.

9:30 or 10:00 is good for me. My son will love it. We still have that little frog we found in a cage with water, an aquarium jeep model, some plants....we're feeding it wingless fruit flies as those are the only things small enough for it to eat.

The Weather Channel says the high will be below 80 due to the coming front.

Don't mind cooler weather as long as its not raining/muddy. But then again I'm not going to complain about rain in July either.

Ok - I plan on being out there at 10 with my two little guys. Who all is going? DFW6ER is the only one that sounds like a definite as far as I can tell. Weather is going to be great and maybe give us a little mud :-)

So Rhett.....looks like its a wash today. Unless you're close and want to help pull Alex out. He said its only drizzling and he's stuck near those two really steep hills in the back where we're last time.
