I was out there all week with my grandparents but sadly I didn't have to jeep. Check out Indian wells canyon.. Then if you can find the community college in ridge crest there is alot of roads up past there if you continue on that dirt road.. Also if you go toward lake Isabella on rt 178 there are a bunch of cool trails up on a trail towards chimney peak. Have fun there is so much to explore!

Awesome. Thank you!!! Last week a couple of us went up to rancheria and had some fun. Hopefully I can head out with a group of fellow jeep lovers

I've done rancheria road from the top of black gulch to about half way down. I was up there last week, a lot of the trails are closed down for the winter now

Considering Kern County is pretty big, there is quite a bit lol. One of my favorite trails that is fairly close to me is Last Chance Canyon. Connected to this, are quite a few other trails as well...another popular one being Nightmare Gulch. However, Nightmare Gulch will be closed until July (I believe) due to bird nesting from now til then.

Another one to look into that I believe is on the edge of Kern County as well is Miller Jeep Trail. This one is fairly popular on the forum, however I have not been able to drive it yet.

One I have driven once up in Isabella area is Freeway Ridge which is pretty fun as well.

I am at china lake. I haven't wheeled much of jawbone. I've been under the impression that it was mostly for dirt bikes. Last chance canyon and nightmare gulch are very close to jawbone...and they are fun trails for the jeeps

I love it. There is also a lot of wheeling out around Trona as well (if u r familiar with that area). That is where they hold the popular "panamint valley days"

Ya I went out to trona for a few hours one day. Is the wheeling by the pinnacles or somewhere else? Also do ever go up by mount Whitney and wheel in alabama hills?

It's out farther, past trona, pinnacles is before. I've spent some time in the alabamas, haven't been quite as north as whitney...in the jeep at least

Wait I lie, don't think I've wheeled the alabamas...I was thinking of something else

Your best bet is buying a Charles Wells book and a Roger Mitchell book for your area... both on Amazon for a fair price.

Of course if you would like to go see where they caught Manson this weekend... 0930 at the Ballarat Jail. Me and at least one other rig will be there headed up and over Mengal Pass to Striped Butte valley. Will be checking out mines and a whole bunch of other stuff along the way. We will be staying the night in Furnance creek but RC is about 2 hrs by road from furnance creek. The trail is very easy.

If you decide to join us, top of in RC, next gas is Furnance Creek and bring some with ya.
