About an hour north of Vegas you have Logandale Trails, a little further northeast there is the Gold Butte area,Whitney Pockets, Lime Kiln Road, Wild Horse Springs. All can be found on Google. Great off road trails with beautiful high desert scenery. Trails not too difficult, go with a friend to be safe. The desert can be unforgiving if you're not prepared.
This trail starts in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and is one of the more difficult trails in the Spring Mountain National Recreation Area. There are desert trips as well. What type wheelin' you want to do? You might post in the Nevada forum for more response.
Chapman Jeep also sponsors a club - Desert Wranglers. Great group of people - usually at least one group day trip every month. Here's a link to their Meetup Group: http://www.meetup.com/Desert-Wranglers-Jeep/
