I am looking for someone who is knowledgeable about the 4.0 I6 who is not
doing anything this weekend. I need some help troubleshooting a knock in my motor. I don't have very much knowledge when it
comes to this subject and live in an apartment with no garage. I do not have the money to take it to a shop and do not want to get ripped off. I would like to help and maybe try and learn something. I can throw some cash and buy a case of beer. If you are interested in helping out a fellow jeeper PM me. I will tow the jeep to where you are located.

Does the knock sound like it is coming from the top or bottom of the motor?

You said you had zero oil pressure. So that tells me a bearing is probably fried and the motor is toast. With too much clearance in the bearing the oil will just flow out (path of least resistance)

Idk where it is coming from. It sounds like a rod. If it is the bearing the problem there is no fixing the motor?

The oil pressure is just low. Sometimes it goes up when rpms go up.

Bottom of the motor = rod

top end cam shaft more than likely. Does the sound more from the top or bottom?

You could replace the bearing but its not the "right way" if it is your dd then I would look in motor swap.

Don't rev it up or crank it more than you have to no oil or low pressure is bad thing and could damage other things.

It has no oil in it. I'm not driving it anywhere. I will tow it to wherever I need to to get it looked at/fixed.

Shell can you ask the guy who was with you that day in the red JKU if he has any tips on hiding the rear electrical wires after the carpet is out? I pulled out all my carpet yesterday and I'm looking for suggestions. I think I remember he had his out as well but I didn't look to see what he did with the wires.

Keenon's are still in there exposed, but he said you can extend them and run them under the tub.
