Live in Raleigh area. I've got Thu or Sun open and would love to do some offroading in the area. My son wants to go also (he's 9).

If you are willing to drive to the other side of Clayton this weekend when I get everything worked out, me and some other guys are going for a little mudding! My son will probably go also, he's 8!

I won't be back in town until Saturday afternoon. I will check and see what you finally work out, in case it is a brief thing on Sunday afternoon. Would likely bring my boys, too. (17 and 19)

JayC...depending on how worn out I am Saturday, I may opt for the following weekend myself. So don't feel bad!

I haven't forgot, I'm still trying to get up with Keith! I'll keep you updated, but it would more than likely be on Sun, because I have to work on Sat!

Well so far so good! I finally got hold off him and it is looking like Sun around 1:00, he is going to call me later and confirm! Who ever is interested in going, send me a PM and I'll respond tonight or in the morning at work (gotta have something to do at work) with a good place to meet up at and my cell #!

I'm in for Sunday blkrubi88.

Went to Uwharrie on Thu - little disappointed. After my stock Wrangler (31 tires) did 1.5 of the 8 trails I gave up. The skid plate constantly was very lightly touching on the big moguls (being really careful, my first Jeep and donít want to ding it up Ė itís my day ride too). Checked underneath, luckily no damage. Am I doing something wrong?

Need some advice - I'm completely new to Jeeping. If I want to go to places like Uwharrie, and do all the trails, do I need to get my Jeep lifted (this means bigger springs to raise the body up and give more mid body ground clearance right?) and get bigger tires (gives more minimum ground clearance for hubs right?). Having a lot of fun, getting bitten by the Jeeping bug - now thinking (dreaming) about a Rubicon. Would it be smarter for me to modify my existing stock Wrangler sport (new) or see if I can trade up to a Rubicon? Where is a good place to properly modify, if that's the route to go? How expensive is it to do this? Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Is Sundays ride going to be ok for a stock Wrangler sport blkrubi88? Hope so, looking forward to meeting some fellow Jeepers.

Ground clearance does help, but with practice, learning what lines to pick in on the trails and a good spotter if you get in a hard spot, you should be able to navigate Uwharrie. Every trail at Uwharrie has an easy way ( down, gravity helping you) and a hard way (up) for stock Jeeps! Even though mines a Rubicon, it is still stock height, my first time at Uwharrie, I think my skid plate hit everything on the trail, especially when I went down Daniel! Earlier this year when I went, I think my skid only hit three or four times, I think is because I watched the guys in front of me on the lines they were picking! I now have probably done every trail there! You will be just fine on Sun if you go, as long as you don't try the big hole!

Honestly you will have a lot more fun if you go with someone who knows the trails and can help spot and give you tips along the way.

Sorry we missed you, we ended up stayed fri-sun at the corner of wolf den and dutch jon at the bottom of the muddy hill.

To answer your questions.. at URE you can do every trail with 31's... bald 31's like my friend Mudder did. He beat his skid plate and has a good set off body mounted rocker skids and you won't have to worry about a thing.

To all that get lost around there I found these maps

And here's Mudder in the unstoppable stocker up the 1st ledge of Daniel

bwahahaha! I'm sorry I missed that. I took my little one to Lowe's and bought a giant Machete for next time. That trail needed some maintenance. Love the pic of you guys all together.

We were all sad your daughter got wacked and you had to turn back. Everyone was asking and was concerned.

Had to stop and break a few "limbs" along the way for some. It was tight in some places, but sweet.

Loading up the YJ stuck pic...hold on...you are gonna LOVE it.

Yeah, he went through it in the line several times and did great. Then he got ballsy.

Tried to cut left and cross than mound of grass, which leads into another small hole. Did it fine the first 2 times. But obviously, he marred it up too much for the last go around!! Took on water and wouldn't start...smoked like a housefire...pulled out by two TJs (Keith and Chris) with a Cherokee (Matt) serving as an anchor for Chris. Oh, and the YJ winch wrapped around a tree. But winch drained the battery, so....got it out and jumped it off, and he rode again like it was nothing.

OH! And his girlfriend was in the passenger seat. Take a look at her perspective! We all just knew it was gonna roll completely over.
