Good Morning!

Meeting at the Selma spot at 12:00 but Keith said he'd be there between 11:00 and 11:30.

Don't know how many for sure. Definitely the usual suspects

Two Raleigh-Durham area wheeling questions . . .

First, anybody know any trails or wheeling spots around here (i.e., not Selma)? Selma rocks of course, but I just never can get out there. Surely there's somewhere that's not paved in the Raleigh/Durham/Cary/Wake Forest/Morrisville/Apex/etc area where some kind landowner or government agency allows Jeeps to be Jeeps? I'm going crazy here.

Second and more random, does anybody know if it's unlawful in NC to ride in powerline trails?

Oh and BTW, ESP123 and I just took the coils (16 & 17 front; 58 rear) and hydro shocks off my JKU Mountain.

They're FREE to anyone willing to come to the Durham area to get them. My guess would be the coils would probably boost a lightly sprung 2 door and the shocks (with only 13k miles on them) would be good factory replacement for anyone with a high mileage JK that doesn't want to buy new shocks.

Figured I'd offer here first.

Man, i've been thinking the same things. There is a large construction site on Page road near the 40 which...has very few, if any people around on weekends. I've gone there twice, but didnt feel great about it because i'm pretty sure I wasnt supposed to be there.

I've also done some powerline trail riding right off 'chin-page' road, near that same construction site, it's open and easy to access. For this stuff, google maps is my best friend

try finding a large patch of land that looks to like a local littering spot, contact the owner and offer to clean it up in exchange for riding privileges. Then get some folks together and have a trail day or two. If people are looking for a place to ride bad enough they'll show up and help. Just drop me a line and I'll be there. NC law states if land is posted then its illegal to enter without owners permission. In the offroading community, if you dont have the owners permission it is considered illegal wheeling no matter what local law states, (just food for thought) and most forums will not let you organize events if they know its illegal wheeling.

Sounds about right, thanks.

I'm not sure who owns powerline trails in NC. It's either the power company owning the land outright, or individual land owners that have ceded easements to the power company. Depending on the extent of the rights obtained by the power company, that may make a difference with respect to who can grant permission to ride.

Sad to have missed everyone. I love coming out to meet up with all the different jeepers from around NC there. It's a great spot and even though its a bit far for some of us, it's always a blast and I love it. Keith, I will put the Rugged Ridge Fuel Door in the mail tomorrow for you. MTH, good luck getting those coils and shocks to someone, Harwa, why can't I got to MOAB with you!

Finally some down time which means a good bottle of wine time.

I have a few good places that are in the raleigh area. One is off 540 on Page Rd...can miss it. One is up in the rural wake forest area...bout a 20 minute drive and it is a powerline trail blazed by the land owners who are really chill about using it. The last one on my list is down m=by creedmor about a 25 minute drive and is also a powerline trail. I have yet to see no trespassing signs so i assume its okay.

PM me if any of you have any questions or want more specific location details.

BTW do you still have those coils and such?
